COMPOSITION:
Each 100 g contains:
Neomycin sulfate 71.4 gm Equivalent to neomycin base 50 Gm.
Excipient up to 100 gm.

MODE OF ACTION:

Neomycin inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. Neomycin "irreversibly" bind to specific 30S-subunit proteins and 16S rRNA. Specifically neomycin binds to four nucleotides of 16S rRNA and a single amino acid of protein S12. This interferes with decoding site in the vicinity of nucleotide 1400 in 16S rRNA of 30S subunit. This region interacts with the wobble base in the anticodon of tRNA. This leads to interference with the initiation complex, misreading of mRNA so incorrect amino acids are inserted into the polypeptide leading to nonfunctional or toxic peptides and the breakup of polysomes into nonfunctional monosomes.

Antimicrobial spectrum:

Act against Gram-ve and some gram +ve bacteria.

PROPERTIES:

v  Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic.

v  Neomycin is bactericidal with a broad spectrum of activity except against Streptococci and anaerobic bacteria.

v  Neomycin differs from other aminoglycosides because it is only administered topically or orally.

v  Neomycin is poorly absorbed from GIT after oral absorption (only approximately 3% is absorbed).

v  The small absorbed fraction is rapidly distributed in the tissues and is excreted by the.

v  Neomycin affect a range of bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. Klebsiella spp., Bordetella broncheseptica and Pasturella spp..

INDICATIONS:

POULTRY

In cases of bacterial enteritis caused by E-coli and Salmonella causing white diarrhea and paratyphoid and disorders related to C.R.D. Decrease the mortality in hatched chicks exposed to cold and Navel ill.

CALVES & SHEEP:
For treatment of colibacillosis(bacterial enteritis)caused by Escherichia coli susceptible to neomycin sulphate in cattle (excluding veal calves),swine, sheep and goats

TARGET SPECIES:   chickens, turkeys, Rabbits, pigs, Lambs, Calves, Horses & pigs.

DOSAGE AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION:

Poultry: 1 Gm /4 liter of drinking water for 3-5 days.

Large animals:  whole product 1 Gm / 50 Kg B. Wt. in drinking water daily for 3-5 days (10 mg neomycin base /Kg B. Wt.).
