COMPOSITION:

Each 100 ml contains:

• Streptomycin sulfate 313.19 mg Equivalent to 25 gm streptomycin base.

• Excipient up to 100 Ml

MODE OF ACTION:

Streptomycin is a protein synthesis inhibitor. It binds to the small 16S rRNA of the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, interfering with the binding of formyl-methyl-tRNA to the 30S subunit. This leads to cod on misreading. Speculation on this mechanism indicates that the binding of the molecule to the 30S subunit interferes with 50S subunit association with the mRNA strand. This results in an unstable ribosomal-mRNA complex, leading to a frame shift mutation and defective protein synthesis; leading to cell death.

ANTIMICROBIAL SPECTRUM:

Act against Gram -ve bacteria.

PROPERTIES:

• Streptomycin is an amino-glycoside antibiotic .

• Streptomycin is bactericidal antibiotic.

• Streptomycin acts by irreversibly binding to 30S ribosomal subunit thereby inhibiting protein synthesis.

• Streptomycin is active against gram negative bacteria E.coli, Enterobacter, Klebsiella spp., Proteus, Salmonella, Shigella, Pasteurella, Leptospira. Mycoplasma, and M.tuberculosis and has a selective action against clostridial infections.

TARGET SPECIES:

Broiler chickens , Pre-ruminating calves, Beef Cattle, Dairy Cattle ,Swine.

INDICATIONS:

• For treatment of non specific infectious enteritis in broiler chickens caused by organisms susceptible to streptomycin (E.coli,Salmonella,vibro)

• For treatment of bacterial enteritis in pre-ruminating calves caused by E coli& Salmonella spp. susceptible to Streptomycin sulfate .

• Streptomycin also is used as a pesticide, to combat the growth of bacteria, fungi, and algae.

• Streptomycin controls bacterial and fungal diseases of certain fruit, vegetables, seed, and ornamental crops, and it controls algae in ornamental ponds and aquaria.

Route of Administration:

taken orally via drinking water and can be used in standard automatic water proportioners.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

For active ingredient:

22-33 mg Streptomycin /Kg B. Wt.

For whole product:

Broiler chickens: 1-1.5ml of product/ 1 liter drinking water for 3-5 days.

Pre-ruminating calves: 2.25-3.5ml of product/ 25Kg b.wt. in drinking water daily for 3-5 days.

WARNING& PRECAUTIONS:

• Keep this and all medication out of reach of children.
  For Veterinary use only .

• To be used by Veterinary Prescription Order.

• Restricted dose must be followed .

• The medicated drinking water should be prepared fresh daily.

• During treatment use the medicated water as only source for drinking.

• The drinking fountains have to be cleaned and disinfected in order to prevent reinfections .

• Do not adminster to chickens producing eggs for human consumption .

• Do not adminster with cephalosporins as it increased risk of nephrotoxicity .

• Certain strains of bacteria may develop a tolerance for streptomycin . if favorable results are not obtained in 3-5 days ,diagnosis should be re-determined ,consult a veterinarian for diagnosis .
