IVERMECTIN & CLORSULON Injection

ANTHELMINTICRUMINANTS

VETGREEN Co.

COMPOSITION:

Each 100 ml contains:

  • Ivermectin 1 Gm .

  • Clorsulon 10 Gm.

  • Excipient up to 100 Ml

MODE OF ACTION:

Ivermectin is a member of the macrocyclic lactone class of endectocides which have a unique mode of action.
Ivermectin paralyses and ultimately kills parasitic nematodes, arachnids and insects by a unique act on the nervous system of these parasites. It activates glutamate sensitive chloride ion channels in invertebrate muscle and nerve cells. It also acts the release and binding of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which opens chloride channels in nerves. The chloride channels are open when they should be closed, and signals are not received by the end-cell. The process is irreversible and leads to paralysis and death.
Mammals do not have glutamate mediated chloride channels and GABA mediated nerves occur only in the central nervous system, whereas in the invertebrate such nerves regulate the peripheral muscles. Ivermectin does not readily cross the blood brain barrier with no notable
act on mammalian GABA binding. Therefore ivermectin has a wide margin of safety in mammals.
Clorsulon is rapidly absorbed into the circulating blood. Erythrocytes with bound drug, as well as plasma, are ingested by Fasciola hepatica (liver flukes). Adult flukes are killed by clorsulon because of inhibition of enzymes in the glycolytic pathway, which is their primary source of energy.

ANTHHELMINTIC SPECTRUM:

nematodes, lung worms, cestodes, trematodes, external parasite and Adult liver fluke .

PROPERTIES:
  • Ivermectin is a member of the macrocyclic lactone class of endectocides, clorsulon Is active against adult and immature (6-8) weeks liver flukes.

  • Ivermectin is an avermectin which a group of pentacyclic sixteen-membered lactone (i.e. a macrocyclic lactone disaccharide), clorsulon Is one of Sulphonamide fasciolicidal agent.

  • Ivermectin half-life period is 16 hours also reported at 22:28 hours, clorsulon Excretion half-life after oral administration is about 26 hours .

  • Ivermectin and clorsulon are very fast distributed from the site of injection and high concentrations of the drug are sustained in the tissues for long periods.

  • Ivermectin and /or its metabolites are mostly excreted through the liver in the feces (98%:99%) over an estimated 12 days and (1:2 %) of the administered dose excreted in the urine , clorsulon excreted unchanged through urine.

  • Ivermectin, clorsulon is used for elimination of internal and external parasites.

  • Ivermectin, clorsulon has an acceptable safety margin, the administration of 25 ml per 50 kg bodyweight (25 x the use level) resulted in injection site lesion (including tissue necrosis, oedema, fibrosis and inflammation)..

  • Ivermectin, clorsulon has on teratogenic or embryotoxic effects in any of the species tested.

  • Ivermectin, clorsulon acts with an unique mode of action and is structurally different from the presently available parasiticdes.

  • No other drug-related adverse reactions could be determined .
