DOXYCYCLINE HCL

Composition:

Each one gram contains:

Doxycycline Hydrochloride 200 mg.

MODE OF ACTION:

doxycycline is lipophilic and can pass through the lipid bilayer of bacteria. Doxycycline reversibly binds to the 30 S ribosomal subunits and possibly the 50S ribosomal subunit(s), blocking the binding of aminoacyl tRNA to the mRNA and inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Doxycycline prevents the normal function of the apicoplast of Plasmodium falciparum, a malaria causing organism.

ANTIMICROBIAL SPECTRUM:

Act against Gram+ve and Gram-ve bacteria .

Properties:

• Doxycycline hydrochloride is a long-acting semi-synthetic tetracycline that is derived from oxytetracycline.

• Doxycycline hydrochloride after oral administration is completely absorbed and bind to calcium with low quantity .

• Doxycycline hydrochloride has activity against most mycoplasma, spirochetes, Chlamydia , Rickettsia, gram +ve bacteria like staphylococcus and strep­tococci, Actinomyces sp., Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium perfringens and tetani, Listeria monocytogenes and Nocardia, gram -ve bac­teria like E.coliand, Bordetella sp., Brucella, Bartonella, Haemophilus sp. , Salmonella spp, Pasturella multocida, Shigella, and Yersinia pestis.

• Doxycycline hydrochloride is bound to plasma proteins in varying amounts dependent upon species( 75-86% in dogs, and about 93% in cattle ).

• Doxycycline hydrochloride has the serum half-life of approximately 18-22 hours.

Indications:

For Poultry:

Treatment of Fowl cholera, Salmonellosis ,Sinusitis, Bluecomb, Mycoplasmosis(CRD), Infectioussynovitis, Enteric infections caused by E.coli.

For calves:

Treatment of shipping fever, rhinotracheitis and other secondary infections.

Dosage and Administration:

Poultry:

0.5 g 1 liter of drinking water for 3 - 5 days (15 Mg kg B. Wt.).

Calves:

for 50 kg B. Wt. calve give 3.75 Gm per 5 liters of artificial milk per calve for 3-5 days (15 Mg kg B. Wt.).

WARNING& PRECAUTIONS:

• Keep out of reach of children.

• For Veterinary use only .

• To be used by Veterinary Prescription Order.

• Restricted dose must be followed .

• The medicated drinking water should be prepared fresh daily.

• During treatment use the medicated water as only source for drinking.

• The drinking fountains have to be cleaned and disinfected in order to prevent reinfections .

• Not for use in hens from which eggs are produced for human consumption.
